Day 1 Village:

The 3-day excursion commences at 8 a.m. from your hotel in Luang Prabang. Accompanied by our guide you will first cross the Mekong River then commence a trek of approximately 4 hours. Your belongings will be taken care of and continue on the tac tac (a Lao tractor) to our final destination. Whilst walking to our hosts village, you will pass the magnificent landscapes of the mountains, traditional ethnic villages and rivers. You will witness buffalo working, rice cultivation and pineapple and banana plantations. We will teach you about various edible and medicinal plants and fruit trees along the way.

We will break for lunch and then proceed to our final destination where you will be introduced to your hosts by the chief of the village and take a tour of this village, participating in authentic artisanal activities.

Remember every experience = a contribution

Booking a tour with us allows for a contribution to support the under privileged families and children in need of educational material and clothing. You will meet the school principal and make your offering which will be gratefully received.

In the evening, experience a typical ‘Khmu’ dish before settling into the space prepared by your host family for a well-deserved night's rest.

Day 2 Forest:

After eating breakfast in the village, we will head into the forest to our camp location. Here, you will understand the rationale behind choosing a particular location, and the methods used. As a team you will gather bamboo and other essential items for constructing the camp and camp kitchen, then spend the rest of the morning in the forest learning various techniques that are crucial for survival in the forest, such as:

  • Making rope, traps, and snares
  • Tying knots
  • Learning how to make a natural fire
  • Filtering and purifying water

We will have a typical forest lunch and then continue with the following survival skills:

  • Navigation and map reading skills
  • Basic first aid techniques
  • Setting a tarpaulin
  • Hanging a hammock

The day continues with a traditional bamboo workshop, you will see how the Lao people weave this sustainable material to create mats and baskets and have a go yourself. Finally, we’ll go on an excursion to discover one of the many secret waterfalls untouched by tourists, before settling for our evening meal then retiring to your sleeping area, under the stars with the sounds of nature.

Day 3 Mekong:

We’ll begin with breakfast in the forest then head to the Mekong River. We’ll spend the rest of the morning learning how to fish traditional Lao style, using the traps we made the previous day and a Lao style fishing net.

Our lunch will consist of what we have caught during the morning as well as rice, cooked the traditional way.

This amazing experience will end with a return journey along the Mekong River by canoe taking approximately 4 hours and a transfer to your accommodation.

Support for the Khmu Villages

Every Excursion = A Contribution.

On a monthly basis, we engage with the chief of the village to assess the needs of the village, with a particular focus on supporting the children of Laos by supplying clothing and essential school items such as notebooks and pens along with other educational material. We strive to make a meaningful and sustainable impact in enhancing the learning environment for under privileged families.
